so youre saying that when youre in manual mode and you come to a complete stop lets say from 4th, your car downshifts itself to 2nd? i understand the inline 6's go down to 2nd but i would like some more feedback on what the 4.4l are doing? im getting mixed reviews, some say theirs goes down to 2nd while others are saying 3rd.
Yes, thats correct. It shifts down to 2nd, not 3rd.

For example, I am cruising in 4th, then slowing down to a stop. The car stays in 4th gear as I am slowing down to a stop. But as the vehicle comes to a complete stop, it shifts down to 2nd and then it takes off from 2nd gear.

Hope this clarifies a bit

P.S. I just noticed that you have sprint booster installed. Did your car still shifted down to 3rd before you installed sprint booster? Perhaps, sprint booster is causing the car to start from 3rd gear? Just a guess...

i see, unfortunately im not sure if the car shifted to 2nd or 3rd previously without the sprint booster, i will have to take it off and see. although knowing your car shifts down to 2nd makes me feel a little better because hopefully i can make mine to the same, imo thats the way it should be.

thanks

Did you see post #5?

I think it depends on your driving habit... if you're an aggressive driver the tranny will learn and have the car start off in second if you're a granny driver then it'll start off in 3rd.. but if you're a manic it might just start off in first.

I think I remember reading that this is normal for the V8s. the I6s shift down to 2nd but the V8s shift to 3rd.
Correct. Depends on the driving situation - when driving spirited it also goes down to 2nd.
