may be i'm a bit lucky not to have such fault but i do noticed at times, the little amber screen (btw the 2 round speedo and tachometer) goes black out and then resume. Funny...

hmmm....may be your japan specs baby could not get used to local weather here, ha ha (juz joking).

Juz for my own knowledge, i believe u bought it from dealer? where do u send your car for service?
Yea you could be right about the Japanese spec acting up once in a while ....I tell you, even my rear brake light....it blew and the dealer replaced the bulb, next thing I know the brake light failure message always come on...but I checked and everything is ok ! Is there such thing as an original bulb ...I mean BMW brand or approved thingy ?

Other than this minor false alerts, the car had no problem and is truly a gem to drive. Bought mine from a dealer in Tmn Megah called Andere, and sent to Sapura Auto for service.

Is there anyone out there knows where to get the white ring markers apart from the PIAA?

glad to hear u like your babe...my previous E39 used to blow the 3rd brake lamp too, for some unknown reasons. yes, u can ask them for 'original' bulb, pricy though..

in my previous case, even the socket which holds the buld also melted - making it so difficult to remove and replace the bulb anyway, that's history
