I have experianced this too....solutions...

Don't leave your mobile phone in the car if you have a non-BMW retrofit hands free kit (I have a Nokia one).

Don't leave your keys in the ignition. I usually leave my car locked in the garage with my keys in the ignition - I'm on call out for a UK emergency service, and drive the car under blues and twos - if my pager goes off in the night, I hit the remote garage door open button I keep beside the bed, and then by the time I'm dressed, the car is ready to go. i had a few experiances of not being able to find the key, which isn't funny when you're in a rush at 3AM, so the ignition is the best place for them. I have a work around where I leave the keys in the ignition, but only just in, so I have to push the key all the way into the lock. this saves the battery from draining.

I don't know when your vehicle was built but here is a service measure for a problem with the Light Control Module. This affects vehicles produced from January 21st, 2004 to February 25, 2004.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for your suggestions I don't have a mobile phone but I guess just have to remember to take the keys out, although it does seem strange that all this trouble happened after they did an upgrade to the computer. I have the car back now and will see how things go. The dealer is unable to find any fault with the car.

My father had a similar problem on a 1990 750iL. If he didn't drive the car for a week the battery was dead. No phones, add-ons, nothing. It was irritating but he nor the dealer eever found a solution (except I told him I'd drive his car ever 3 days if that helped him). I know this doesn't help and is slighltly off topic but it seems to affect many different BMW models (and luckilly not mine).

Razor, where are you located?
Is it lemon time? Maybe video tape the problem. I don't know if that will help. Obviously there's a problem. What software version do you have?

Was a software upgrade that was done before the problem started?
