Has anyone experienced a continously draining battery? The dealers excuses have been from the fact the car is not driven enough!!!...to the key should not be left in the ingition over night (when this fault seems to happen) The fault seemed to start when the car went in for a ' computer upgrade'. It has been on diagnostic testing over weekends and even over a week indicating no fault. The dealers excuses are not on, as the car was left for a month while we were on holiday, then started perfectly. We were originally told that the computer is turning on when the car is off. This has happened 10 times. Not what you'd expect from a brand new car.

not heard of that problem before. I know the E46 BMW had issues with batteries being drained by faulty climate control units drawing power after the car was switched off. Can I just ask what exactly you mean by:

you dont leave the key in the ignition do you? overnight? if so I could well imagine the car might not go into a complete shutdown state.

Thanks for the reply

We used to leave the key in the ignition (with car off) over night in our garage. The dealer thought this might be the problem. On the dealers advice we remove the key and lock the car (which is pretty normal), but still find a dead car in the morning. As you can appreciate this does not happen every morning which makes the fault even harder to figure out. The dealer is struggling to find the problem.

My old 540i had this problem with temps below 40 degrees F.

It needed a new starter I think. Hope this helps.

I have a GPS tracking device installed what uses power from the battery 24/7. No problems!
At the beginning there was a warning every time, but my dealer found a way to get around. No more warning, no battery problems...

Did you set the ventilation to come on at certain time (active ventilation?) and forgot to tun it off?

Thanks for the advice. We will check that, but I don't believe the ventilation is coming on. The car is room temp when I get inside, but good thinking.

If it is programmed to come on, you'll see a red light under the centre dial.

it happened to me once, car goes into "sleep mode" to prevent any battery drainage. in any case, it was fixed by a software upgrade. good luck.

How was the battery recharged after it was drained? Maybe it was over-charged in which case it may need to be replaced.
