Have any of you tried to get any maintenance work done right after the free coverage period is over for free? Any strategies?
In my case, I have an oil change due in 5k miles and front brakes due in 7k miles, and I just clocked 96k miles. I do have the 100k extended maintenance plan that I invested in so am hoping a stealer can cover this work. Any thoughts?

an extended maintenence plan is an aftermarket product where the dealership has a vested interest in doing the work to capture what ever the plan pays them to do the work. they will however not perform any work where there is doubt they wont be reimbursed by the plan. Id read the fine print on the back carefully to see the terminology on what is coveredand and when when... otherwise i guess slam on the brakes alot lol?
About the good will thing in your situation i cant imagine them offering to do anything other than what is clearly outlined in your contract. Take a different situation such as your car just blew its engine and it has 51300 miles on it so just barely out of warranty ive seen dealers get this kind of thing covered many times before but it involves the manufacturer giving the final approval not the dealer.

I was in a similar situation (but at only 60k miles) when my extended BMW maintenance plan ended. I asked of they would do the brakes (iDrive reported them due in 10k miles) but they measured the pad thickness and declined saying they were not even close to the wear sensors. That was 3k miles ago and they are still at 10k. Guess I don't use the brakes that much
