I cleaned mine a couple of weeks ago, and it seems to have improved the mpg...I forgot to reset the counter @ last fill up.....so i'll do that next time and see how many miles I get out of a full tank......

did you take the whole MAF out and the and manage to get to the bit where the wires/sensors are? i mean did you manage to take the stalk bit out of the MAF housing.
if so how did you do that?

This pic is from the link from the first page in this thread, so disregard the red arrow. I pulled the sensor out of the intake pipe without removing the pipe....
Once I pulled it out, I flooded it down in all of the holes and such with the crc maf cleaner. The "hot wires" are exposed on mine, so I was able to spray them too with no probs.
Here's another pic from the first page...so again disregard the red writing/ arrows. Just a reference of where the hot wire sensor is located on the maf sensor, which is the little paper clip looking thing...
The spray dries fast, but I let it sit for 20-25 mins to make sure it was dry inside. Then I just installed it back on in the reverse order.

On mine (550)....there are 2 hex screws that hold the maf sensor to the housing, which are under a clam shell cover. I unclipped/ removed the clam shell cover, then unscrewed the 2 hex screws, unplugged the harness then pulled the maf sensor out of the housing.

Don't know then...the maf sensor should still be mounted/ screwed into a housing somewhere between the air box and throttle body.

i have managed to get to it and take the whole MAF sensor housing out, my problem is i cant take out or sholud i say expose the wires/sensors to get a good clean.
the picture below shows the MAF and in the red box is the area that i can remove to expose the wires, which are shown in yellow.

i have put the MAF back in now, but taking pics from a different angle are difficult as its very difficult to see the wires or senors.
