I'll measure mine when I get home, I'm thinking they might even be 4"

OK, mine are 3.5" each and the total width is 7.25" for both leaving ~ one inch of clearance on either side.

Thanks for looking on this. The tips I will have is 7.5 wide. Can you tell me what exhaust you installed and how do you like the sound. I'm getting magnaflow xpipe in the center and 2 magnaflow 14415 round muffler to silent the sound down.

If you are only going to run One X pipe and two 14415's at the rear you will be loud. Well, I guess that is relevant to personal opinion... I have a 14385 in the center that goes into two single turbo tubes and then into the two 14415's just at the rear. I'm happy with it. It's not too loud and the resonating issue is very low.

Original setup was 14385 and two turbo tubes at the end. This was also ok but had just a little too much resonating in the cabin for me on the interstate 60-70 mph. So I removed the turbo tubes and replaced with 14415's and the sound increased a little which was still ok, but the resonating doubled! So I went back and added in the turbo tubes between the 14415 and 14385.

So if you will only have the X pipe and the two tubes at the rear, this is why I say you will be loud. But again, it's what you like and how annoying you want to be to those around you...; ))

If you go with the M5 rear bumper, it comes with dual openings for the quad exhaust, so nothing else is needed.

Actually Umnitza calls their M5 rep rear M5tech rear (click down on Required):
E60 (5-series) M5 or Mtech Package (Front/Rear/Sides) [e60m-MIIbmpr] - $899.99 : Umnitza|BMW Angel Eyes|LED Angel Eyes|Headlights|Lighting|Performance|Service|87748 66489

That's how I've always differentiated it from the OEM M5 rear. OEM M5 rear looks flawless, M5Tech rear has that deformed hump between the exhaust openings.

Tony, Can you possibly show me pictures of your exhaust? I wanted to see underneath the car and locations of the 14415's and turbo tubes. Thanks again for the help.

The only change is where I pulled they replaced the turbo tubes with the magnaflow and moved them to the new position where they are between the main muffler and the outlet.

I know what you mean. I'm not sure if this is their name for it or if its one that floats in the community. When I purchased mine they told me this was the name assigned to the front only because of the fog lights instead of having the cooling ducts, kind of a crossover bumper. I was also told by them that this came about when the mfg. actually produced the bumpers with the fog light openings instead of ducts and shipped the parts to them so they assigned name M5Tech. The fog light difference is not possible though unless the mfg already had this insert sitting around which would make no sense unless they were already producing parts like this. My guess they were but sending them somewhere else and then mistakenly sent them to this distributer. The rear is the same with however you want to refer to it. well, with the exception of the geometry. Visually the same, until you purchase something that is M5 and find that it doesn't fit the M5 aftermarket.

Custom made by a shop in Socal.

Same shop as the one that's doing the 1M bumper for my group buy.
