If you have an M5 mirror or a normal mirror without the Extended lights package and want to add the puddle lights this is what you need to do. I think most M5 mirrors come with the puddle lights attached but if you have a normal mirror you will need two extra parts per side. See more detailed http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?mo...hg=51&fg=10
SUPPORTING RING, BRIGHT-BLACK LEFT 1 51167898179
SUPPORTING RING, BRIGHT-BLACK RIGHT 1 51167898180
or
SUPPORTING RING, BLACK, LEFT 1 51167074953 $78.40
SUPPORTING RING, BLACK, RIGHT 1 51167074954 $78.40
and
LAMP OUTSIDE MIRROR, LEFT 1 63316913277
LAMP OUTSIDE MIRROR, RIGHT 1 63316913278
Next to make a cable that will light up these LEDs you need the following parts per side. So multiply all quantities by 2 to make cables for both sides.
1. Plug - 61138365399 x 1
2. Pin contacts - 61130005200 x 2 (these come with grommets and a foot of wire attached)
or if you want to crimp your own wires then
2b. Rubber Grommets - 61138366245 x 2
2c. Pin contacts - 61138366269 x 2
3. 2 POL pin terminal 61138373583 x 1
4. 2 POL socket holder 61136925634 x 1
5. Socket contacts 61130005197 x 2 (these come with a foot of wire attached)
or if you want to crimp your own wires then
5b. Socket contacts 61131393726 x 2
6. Pin contacts x 61130005198 x 2 (these come with a foot of wire attached)
or if you want to crimp your own wires then
6b. Pin contacts 61131393723 x 2
After you have all the parts make up a wire that will run from the mirror lights all the way to the door puddle/entry lights throught the door panel. Remember to route any wiring through the mirror bases first before attaching any of the plugs to the ends fo the wires.
Once you have the parts everything should be pretty straight forward and obvious. But see the diagram for what you are meant to be doing.
It took be 8 hours last week to get the part number for the plug that mates into the LEDs of the mirrors. BMW don't hold this information on their system and so I had to contact Tyco directly and then trawl through series of drawings.

What I can say it that you can finish the job faster than it took me to find the parts required to make this installation plug and play.
