I pulled the following answer from another forum, they are talking about a 545/550, but the same should hold true for your 535 (sounds like it's easier to just get the Quaife, a few members here have done that already):

"I have thought about doing this as well. Here is what I know:

The M5 LSD differential is slightly larger in width and length, than the 550i stock differential. In the 5 series, BMW uses a modular setup for the Differential, Axles, and driveshaft. The following would be needed:

1) M5 LSD which could possibly be obtained at bavarian auto recyclers from a wrecked M5

2) Rear Driveshift (The driveshaft on the 5 series is two-piece with a joint in the middle. The rear driveshaft on the M5 is shorter than the rear driveshaft on the 550i)

3) New MS Axle shafts (these are also shorter than the 550i and should bolt directly to the axle hubs on each wheel with no issues)

The car will probably need to have a reprogramming for both the transmission and the DSC."

I agree with John on getting the Quaife ATB limited slip differential.

Any links to these threads ? I have a 6mt, I don't think I would need to reprogram it. If it bolts right on that would seem like a cheaper and better option than the Quaife.
