The M5 kit is not an option on any non-M5 car from the factory. I think you're referring to the M Tech which is very similar to the M5 but with slight differences, like the front bumper/spoilier having foglights and the rear diffuser having only one opening for the exhaust (the sideskirts are the same).

For the M Tech, it depends on your location. European customers had the M Pack option which has the M Tech kit. US customers didn't. We would buy the M Tech kit from the dealers or aftermarket shops and install them.

But I think all that is irrelevant and I'm assuming you just want to know what you can do now. You can buy either kit, M5 or M Tech, from your dealer or an aftermarket shop. There are also replica kits on the market with the latest trend being an M5 front bumper that has foglights like the M Tech kit. You should check with some of the vendors on this forum like Trinity Autosport, SonicMS or EuroRev.

I am actually looking to buy an 530i sport and I have found one with the M-tech kit on it and I was just wondering if was orginal or added after the fact.

Thanks for the info. I haven't seen this car yet, but I hope it works out.

+1.

If you want the OEM M Tech or M5 kit as opposed to a replica, many members go to Garry Romani, the Parts Manager at BMW of Newport, Rhode Island. He offers a 25% discount to our members.

Here is the link to the thread about Garry and his discount: https://5series.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=18067

Actually, the M Tech kit was first included with the 550i Sport Package in model year 2008.

Thanks for this info, I too was wondering this. Does anyone have any contacts in Houston, TX that offer good deals on the MTech kit. Thanks in advance.

as another option we do carry a replica mtech front, replica mtech sides, and also a replica M5 trunk spoiler

answering the OP, +1 for all preLCI e60s the mtech is an additional accessory and does not come from the factory that way in the US.
