Hi all,
I've recently bought an E60 550i M Sport Manual in Mystic Blue, and love it. The previous owner fitted M167s a couple of years ago and I see that this is a popular mod on this forum so this seemed a good place to ask the question. Everything else on the car is factory.
I've noticed that my rear tyres look a little bit stretched and the rims are exposed - this is because they are 255/35/19s. I understand that these 9.5" rims would normally have 275s on there, and this is what I'd like to put on as I'm not keen on the current appearance and want some rim protection. But I'm worried that 275s would rub as even with the 255s the clearance already looks marginal, (even though I see that there are few people running M167s on here with 275s).
Please can you have a look at the attached images and let me know what you think - does this look as expected?
I'm guessing I have the version with the M6 offsets as there are no spacers fitted.
The previous owner said he just left it to the tyre guy to fit the right tyres so wasn't able to tell me logic behind putting the 255s on in the first place.
Thanks,
Mark

Along on the spacers topic, did u have to re align after adding the rear spacers? I'm thinking, yes.
To the OP: I think the previous owner screwed up on the offset of the wheels. Looks like your tires are pretty flush as is. If you go 275 Im pretty sure your tire is going to be a few mm out of the fender line.

Ok, a bit more info.
I took a rear off last night to confirm exactly what these wheels are, and saw a Made in P.R.C on there...so yeah they are replicas . I'm actually really surprised as their finish is excellent (especially given that they are a couple of years old), and always assumed that a replica would be obvious.
I thought maybe this explains why the offset looks extreme but according to the stamps they are ET17, just like a real M6 rear.... but I don't know if it's as simple as that. Maybe there is a slight difference which makes them stick out further than the OEM ones?
So now I'm back to square one with working out what tyres I can fit on. Plus I don't know if I want to keep them anymore anyway. I was willing to put up with the impracticality and tyre cost on the basis that they were gorgeous pieces of forged metal. But now I know they are reps I'm less sure, especially if I'm stuck with this strecthed 255 tyre look.
It would be really helpful if people with ET17 167s could post some very close up images similar to mine.
Thanks guys.

So does that mean that you have et17 rear offset on the wheels + 15mm spacers making offset +2?
I'm amazed you don't have any rubbing?
Do you have spacers on front also or are they standard et12 offset.
Thanks & Looking forward to your reply.
