Hello, I am new to the forum and and recently purchased a 2006 550i. I would like to install the m-tech kit, do most people here use a replica or oem kit. Also how is the fitment with the replica kits? Have anyone experienced any problems with the painting any bad experiences with install?

Thanks

I have a M TECH kit on mine. To make it short, go with OEM. Why do you want a go with a replica?
If you do a little search using the search button, you will find many threads regarding these kits and you will find out for yourself what's best for you, your budget, and the quality product you will receive.

Yes, please use the "search" feature in the upper right hand corner to find threads and posts on this topic. There are tons of them.

Bottom line is that M Tech is more expensive than replicas but members report fewer issues with the M Tech. I can't speak from personal experience because my 550i Sport came with the M Tech kit included. I adore the look of the M Tech kit.

If you go with reps, then there is no guarantee on the fitment plus you might not get all the required parts, such as fog lights.

As you can see, Xman's ride has a M Tech kit. It looks terrific. His statements about no guarantee on the fitment when it comes to reps is pretty much what you will hear from a number of members.

Nerwyll can't help with the fitment and stuff like that? I'm sure members here that have connections can help work out the minor issues.

And, tell me I'm wrong, "M-Tech" refers to the replicas and "M Aero Kit" refers to the OEM from BMW. On the BMW website, it's listed as "M Aero Kit", not "M-tech." M-tech is a company, right?

Nick, I would go OEM on the kit, but Umnitza's kits have been very popular recently. Up to you.

I think the term "M-Tech" is used loosely in here which refers to the "M Aero Kit". And it doesn't mean its replica.
I got my kit from the dealer, but I always call it M-Tech. Just to confuse the crap out of people.

there are reps available, we carry the replica side skirts and front (but the front is more of an M5 look with fog housings). fitment is good. OEM mtech kit is always an option as well. btw, welcome and enjoy the forums.
