"M' Badging

first of all,the M5 comes with a M5 kit....not an mtech, there's a difference. secondly, quad exhaust is added for performance AND looks - yes. but adding the M5 badge is just wrong.

There is really no right or wrong in all these discussions and replies on such a "sensitive" topic. It just goes to show how different people perceive things based on differing mindsets. Having said that, I would venture to say that instead of taking issue with the "M" badging, why don't we all just admire the mods on the various E60s and be happy that we drive an E60?
BUT...if I see a stock E60 with factory 16" rims having the "M" badge, then that's clearly wrong..

Perhaps my original premise was faulty: an M5 badge sends a message to many observers that you may have an M5; M5 modifications send a message to many observers that you may have an M5. Why is the sporting of the M5 badge so widely condemned and the placing of the M5 mods so widely praised? That was my question. Perhaps there is no clear answer- like politics and religion.
I have so enjoyed reading all of your witty, clever and emotional replies to my original post. Thanks folks!

you don't want an M5, but yet you do everything to your current non M5 to make it look like one...right?
exactly look like an m5. i like the styling of it not really that interested in wasting 100k. and also not interested in gettin 10miles a gallon. nice car just dont really want it now. maybe one day if im rich, but to waste now. no

It's like saying..."I didn't actually graduate from Harvard, but since I'm wearing a Harvard shirt and carrying a Harvard bag(well, I like the look!!) I might as well put "Harvard" on my resume!" The question here is whether you make people think that you "have" an M5 and you "may have" an M5. To me, the badge is what separates the two!!!
