I think adding and M to your car when it is not, is only fooling yourself really.
These cars are awesome without needing to resort to trickery to make them seem like something they are not!

This is definitly going to start a long thread.. i can see it now.. IMO. and its just my opinion.. I think M accessories are fine.. inside or out.. it just means to me that you like some of the parts related to the M series. To ME I believe its not truly an M though unless you are sporting the whole M, meaning the car itself, engine, and parts that come along with it.. stock! That is were to me placing the badge on your car ends.. accessories are fine, but to me its not what the car was "born" as.. ya know?
Its like having a Fiero and putting a Lambo kit on it and calling it a Lambo,
but its not..not the engine, frame, original parts. etc.. Just my opinion.. and I dont wanna get chastised for it

i agree with you its going to be a long thread on this one, Yep "M" means the car in its entirety really the Engine but and sporting the M Badge means your lieing about what you got under the hood. I think all M accessories like the steering wheel kit is all find just dont claim to be something your not
If everyone is saying that putting an M badge is wrong then it is almost the same when you debadge your car.
Cause the people that debadge their car that have M5 parts or even any other aftermarket parts is sending the same message.
Cause any joe blow will think it is an M5. IMO

2 things...
first, putting an M badge on your e60 is like buying a "Bolex" watch or a "Fucci" bag. The average piker wont know the difference and thats fine but when you sit next the guy with the real Rolex your gonna feel like a shmuck. And for the ladies in here, when your in the mall and the girl next to you has the actual Gucci bag on her shoulder and you realize that now your bag looks like some leather/plastic combo piece crap theres a reason why you hide yours, its just not as good. The only people your fooling by putting an M badge on your e60 are people who dont know any better (they dont matter anyway) and yourself, so have fun trying to fool no one important.
second, taking off the badge is not even close to faking an M or for that matter any larger engine that you may have (i.e. - 550i on a 525i). taking off the badge simply looks better in my opinion and if people cant tell the difference btwn a 550i and a 525i that their own fault. i debadged my 530 but i in no way am i trying to pose to have something different.

I've decided to debadge the Carbon Fiber M5 badge and rebadge the car with the Shadowchrome M5 badge. Is that a mistake? My wife thinks that taking the original M5 badge off in the first place, was stupid. At times, I think she was right, but I'll never tell her that.
