Now with the 19" M172 wheels coming, I'm considering to lower the car with an inch or so.

Have anyone done it only by getting new springs?

HR offers a set of springs (part nr 29255-1) that will suite the standard shockobservers
and lower the car by 30 mm (a bit over an inch).

Any tips and/or thoughts, please?

Comfort is the word here!

Congrats on the new wheels Ric.
You should also consider eibach. They have the reputation for the most comfy ride which is what you are looking for.

eibach pro-kit will drop around 30mm from non-sport and its the closest ride quality to the OEM

lots of people have done it with the eibach pro-kit
but 345 euros is quite pricy...
in the states you can get it for ~$220USD +shipping, checkout tirerack.com, wonder if they ship to europe
i believe there's a different model of spring between the I6 and V8, so make sure you get the right part

I just got my Eibach's for my M5 yesterday...cost me $259 total, shipped...got on eBay. And the M5 springs in all brands tend to cost more than the "typical" 5 series springs, so I think you should be able to find them for less.
