[/quote]I think there is a reason BMW asks you to keep varying your speed during break in. I've had some more knowledgeable people tell me that the rings won't seat without varying compression. The cars that I have owned that used oil on a regular basis were all broken in on the road with cruise control. Not going to do that any more. I'm a believer in varying engine speeds during break in.

My Ride: 525D, Silver Grey, Bluetooth, CD Changer
My 525D is just over 2 months old, has done 5000 miles. I checked the oil over the weekend and it required 3 pints. I-Drive says Oil change is not due until the car has done 18,000 miles. At this rate I'll have changed the oil myself with topups.
