Low MPGs .. Is there something im missing?

All,

I have a 2008 535i with 29k and currently average about 16.2 on the computer. My manual calculation has me at about 17.0 -17.5 mpg.

Isnt that kind of on the low side for mixed use driving? I do not push it hard at all and most days drive 60% city

I was wondering if there is anything from a maintenance and upkeep point of view I can do to improve the mileage on the car. Any advice is appreciated!

60% city as in NYC?

Even in LI, if you are doing alot of driving in stop and go traffic its going to affect the mpg.
Take the car on a highway road trip and see what your mileage is.

My normal driving is about 70% rural/highway and 30% town/suburb - last I checked I was getting 22 - 24mpg, noticeable better when I drive only on the highway.
