It doesn't bother me after I figured out to go light on the accelerator. Or I've gotten use to it... I wonder also if it could workit'sself out over time with the transmision learning our habits. I played with the AC a bit more, and the fan speed seems to affect idle RPM more than the compressor being on or off. At high fan speeds, I was able to get the idle to vary between 500 and 750 RPM.
500 RPM still strikes me as too low, and seems to be the source of the stuttering throttle response. I also notice a slight shutter in the car at that RPM, as though the engine really isn't happy there. At 750 RPM, takeoff is always smooth.

Alright today I was paying attention to exactly what is happening. The hesitation seems to be in the Steptronic tranny. Warm idle is 500 rpm's and when I touch the gas the rpm's jump immediately and the jerk seems to come from the transmission engaging. AC on/off, fan on/off nothing seems to have any bearing on the idle speed. Maybe the Steptronic needs to see a certain rpm before it engages for some reason although the car still lurches forward when you let off the break (auto creep).
