I got a low engie oil warning last night as I was pulling into my place. I already have an appointment for a oil chance on Monday. I still need to drive my car around this weekend to run errands and meet up with some friends and what not. So I plan on just adding a quart this morning of 5w-30. If it was my old honda or infiniti, it would be a no brainer. But this is my first BMW. I am a little intimidated by the maintenance on my car. Adding a quart of 5w-30 should be fine to hold me over for a couple days, right??

Yes, but you need to make sure its the full synthetic oil as stated in the owners manual. That light comes on when you are one qt low from what I can tell. When mine came on I checked the oil level and it was down at the bottom then I added one qt and it was back up to the top. I'm not so sure if I was changing the oil first part of the week if I would even add that qt. Maybe call you service guy and ask him.
