Just went through this with my 550. I had a "High Battery Discharge" warning every morning and had to reset 'Date & Time' every second day or so. The comfort access system was wonky as well. Local dealer (Calgary BMW) put a new battery in on Thursday and charged me $179 for the unit and an hour's labor for installing and 'registering' it. Our local Napa parts store wanted just over 200 bucks for the battery and I would still have to have it 'registered' by the dealer. Everything is working like a charm now so I think I did ok.

hey guys--if you can give me some quick help.

this "vent tube" that i have searched about...well, i couldn't find any sort of venting hole (it wasn't hooked up) on the stock battery, and i can't find crap on the 94r either. what is this/where is it on this battery? i'm so confused. is it okay if i don't hook it up (if i can't find it)?

^ that is odd that the vent tube is not there. I am replacing my battery today that I purchased from Oreily autoparts, the guy said I could just take out the tube from my old one and replace it on the new battery. I am sure you can get it from the dealership????

I would go to the dealership but I am out of warranty FML

i figured it out. there are two holes on the side of the battery at the top behind the terminals. the cap on the positive terminal when you purchase has a small red dot cap that goes over the vent you choose not to use. silly me left the 90 degree tube in the old battery. luckily walmart still has it sitting at their shop, so i'm going to go grab it after work
