I couldn't agree more, the M5 uses a little too much gas, and is a little too showy to drive to work in (jealous co-workers, will we ever be free of these people?) The 550I is perfect.
With that said, I'm excited about the new M5, I think I'm going to take a trip to the dealership in March when the first ones arrive in the showroom. Possibly my next car I believe. I'm deciding between getting an M5 or getting a 911 Turbo cabriolet in a couple of years.

Timely thread for me. Today is exactly 1 year ago that I bought my 2008 550i. It is perfect in every way. It took a while to find it in manual, but it was worth the wait.
All it took was the START button to get pushed for me to want to sign on the dotted line for the car. The exhaust note (even without new exhaust) was awesome. The sales guy could have taken a dump on my shoes, and I would have still bought the car.
A year later and no problems--except new battery.

I LOVE MY 550i! Even more that it's 6 SPEED MANUAL! All about that ultra rare manual tranny! Makes the power of the car so much more worth it.

My Ride: 2008 550i Sport CPO Space Age Grey
![Default](https://5series.net/forums/images/icons/icon1.gif)
After a bunch of research I picked up a CPO 2008 550i Sport this weekend.
Everything piece of engineering that goes into these cars is amazing.
I wanted an M5, but the amount of gas an M5 uses makes the 550i a better choice.
