Loud Warning Ping

Hello,
The loud ping happens when you have the key in the ignition and the door is open or when the temp drop to freeezing (it scared the crap out of me the other day). Does anyone know how to lower the sound level or this is something we have to live with? I have 07 530.

There is a small speaker under the steering wheel area. Get some duct tape and place over the holes, this should lower the volume...Cheap way of doing the un-do-able...

My car hasn't been making the loud ping warnings for about a year now and I still have no idea why. I'm talking no ping if you don't wear a seatbelt, if you leave the key in the ignition, leave a door open, get any kind of malfunction, nothing. I still get all the visual warnings through idrive and it hasn't affected anything else in the car so I can't complain. It's definitely the best malfunction I've ever had. If I ever figure out why it's not doing it I'll be sure to let you know.
