535i with Injen DCI.

I finally got the chance to take the car out to a remote warehouse area and open it up.
Just installed the intake on Thursday of last week.

First run I used the steptronic and started off in 1st. Floored it and I could hear the turbos
spooling up. Right before I hit redline I shifted into 2nd and all of a sudden heard a noise
that sounded exactly like what a blow off valve would sound like.

For the next 1-1.5 seconds after I shifted into 2nd, I had absolutely no power whatsoever
and the car bogged down. It wasn't until after I got up higher in the RPM's did the car
start to pull hard.

I'm not sure what question to ask here.....the intake's fault? My shitty driving style's fault?
Don't use steptronic to drive with this intake installed? Put on a BOV? (even though car is
automatic?)

Why did this happen and how to prevent it from happening again? Because of the intake,
did I shift at the wrong point? (I know how stupid this sounds...)

Feel free to throw your .02 cents in as this is my first experience with a turbocharged car
that is automatic. I'm puzzled.

Do these cars somehow bleed boost pressure when an intake is installed?

It's probably global warming.

This is what we call a "wrench":

A wrench is a tool used to provide a mechanical advantage in
applying torque to turn bolts, nuts or other items designed to
interface with a wrench.

Do you know what a bolt is?

A bolt is an externally threaded fastener designed for insertion
through holes in assembled parts, and is normally intended to
be tightened or released by torquing a nut.

Changing the filter from stock is a dubious effort to gain performance. IMHO the stock filter is good enough. There is enough research around the net that shows the filter makes no difference other than sound. Sometimes creating more problems than it's worth.

Could be climate change as well.
