Had a weird one this morning, I was driving along the motorway and went to accelerate and nothing..... put my foot to the floor and just about accelerated.

When I pulled off the motorway I thought turbo troubles but it was definatly still spinning and even with my foot to the floor I only just about accelerated. Looking at the instant consumption with my foot buried it still showed 20MPG so it was almost as if something had gone crazy with the throttle travel.

Got to a set of lights, switched ignition off and back on again and all was fine. Check for error messages on the I drive - nothing.

I've got an 04 530d and I recently had the software upgraded so could it be something to do with that? Anyone else had a similar issue?

I if happens again I would take it for a check at the local dealers

Went into the dealers today and they have diagnosed it as a turbo failure which is the second turbo failure i've had in 40,000 miles Thankfully its still in warranty..... I'm also getting a replacement steering column when it goes in as I've had a clonk for a while.

Dunno where I'm going wrong I can't drive it any more gently as the 40,000 miles I got out of my rear tyres shows !!!!!!!

Why am I not surprise, in HK turbo are no good cos they over heat all the time and brake down, my Smart car gets about 80c in the engine when fully warmed up so it get very hot, I see alot of WRX brake down in summer, so I people are planing to get a turbo car in hot places then I say good luck.
