Is this true?

"Please calculate, that with the install of the auxiliary connector, there will be some quality diminution, as there is no longer a digital stereo.

Looking forward to see you at your appointment next week !

Yes
But it?s of no great significance and is probably only a statement concerning the sources you connect to the aux input (which is for analog signal). The original CD and Radio should have the same digital connection as before afaik.
The alternative that would have been the best would have been if BMW would let us connect directly into the digital chain if we have digitial output on our auxiliary equipment - not only for unbroken digital sound quality but also for the possibility of track management and playback control through iDrive on fx an iPod or other computer managed sources.

Why does it suck? All he is saying is "that analogue input we're fitting, it isn't digital" - no *hit Sherlock!

it sucks that one cannot have a fully integrated ipod connection in a 5 series. it also sucks that bmw dealers are either clueless in some instances, or simply do not want to help.

It took me 3 months to get this far and it was only because of this web site that I found I could get an ipod connection. my bmw dealer didn't even mention an aux connector to me.

analogue,,,,, i can live with that. easily.
