Leburpor,, i think it shows that you were on a road with little traction and grip so no wonder the abs kicked in as trying to keep the grip other wise you may have had understeer and on a mountain road you really dont want understeer...
had the same experince alot.... always thought it was mostly beacuse my tires are getting worn out and needed replacing.. personally i dont think of it as so bad...if your brakin in the corner driving becomes tricky, as the front tyres keep more traction and the car oversteers like BetterMakeWay said..
but its clear the rear of the e60 is quite lose.. but its mostly driver error, every time im brakin "in the curve", im probably loosing alot of time because im correcting in the turn, (were not supose to do brake during turns)... mostly driver error.. its the same with alot of cars...im just happy the e60 oversteers and not understeers...
i kinda like it... once i feel the rear wheels going out, i understand i have done a mistake somewhere in my driving, and im loosing speed..

Excelent attitude!
One little thing though, since we are talking about braking into a corner (and braking hard particulary) the E60 or any other car cannot understeer when doing that. It oversteers because of the weight transfer. The front wheels get even more grip so no understeer here. Tell you what though as you probably know the E60 has a hint of understeer when you push on in a speedy corner. In fact sometimes a bit too much. Don't get me wrong understeer is good only (imo) in the amount necesary to warn you when you are reaching the limit but no more than that. Not once it happened to me that the car simply understeered in a fast corner, stepping the tail out being pretty dangerous (80-100km/h) because of the lack of the lsd. Maximum i can get is the inner rear tire smoking but that's pretty much it at those speeds. Scandinavian flick works though at slightly lower speeds (perfect powerslide then ). So when too much understeer that's not good at all, i personally can't drive an understeery car fast since i always have to temper and get more grip on the front wheels but then i get oversteer and the problem is not oversteer (when you also loose time) but the understeer from the begining.
So ...in conclusion a bit of understeer neve hurts but period. Braking and particulary hard braking into a corner as you said, always gets the tail out in any FWD, AWD or RWD car.

I've always thought the E60 had a loose rear end, I'm hoping that with some sway bars and some upgraded shocks and springs, maybe coilovers, it will tighten it up. It seems like every hard turn I make the rear end rolls a lot more than the front end and it makes the car want to fishtail like with EBMCS03. I took a pretty hard turn when I was in Michigan (80 degrees at about 45mph) with a friend following behind me and after we got back to our apartment he said he couldn't believe how much body roll my car has. He said he thought his '99 Cavalier took the corner better than my car did, and to be honest, I almost believe him. I don't think the rear shock recall affected my build date (04/04) but I have started to wonder about it.
I just installed the H&R sway bars and it help alot but still can feel a little bit of the back end come loss but I dont have wide tyre at the back only 245 on all 4 My is 2004 525i old engine, my speed was 70km at a 90% turn.
Sway bars will help alot. it is another car not the same at all!!! I love it.
