Hey, i just bought a 2005 530i and i was wandering if BMW makes a flip flop key like audi or vw does. I know they make them for the 7 series but i really really want one for my 5 series. If you can offer me any help please tell me cause i really would like such a key.
Thank you!
Best regards David

What is a flip flop key? The 7er key fob isn't much different than the 5er.

I think it may be like a switchblade. Press the button and the keep flips out. or flops out? Now with comfort access there is no metal key to insert, right? I have the old key on my '06 so I'm not sure ont he comfort access key.

Also on the later E60 with the start stop button there is no key used. You plug the fob itself into the steering column.

Well that might account for the flip but not for the flop

I believe he is talking about the Audi keys. Had one with my A4 quattro. Not sure if its possible to get one on a 5.

Definitely can't get that key for E60's built after Sept. 06, because from that build date on, the ignition requires the key fob to be inserted in.

As for E60's built before Sept. 06, don't think there are choices of key fobs.

Will this will work for the models built prior to Sept. 06?

I think you mean Sep 05. I have a Jan 06 car where the fob is used directly. Ofcourse people will know there is a key hidden inside the fob that you never use.
