My Ride: E39 525d, orient blue with beige interior. Planing on getting an E60 535d next summer when my lease on my E39 is over :)
I can't find any driving review of the 535d. Can anybody post articles about it or even better than that could 535d owners tell us about their driving experience.
thanks

If you have any specific questions please feel free to PM me but I've done about 2000 miles in mine and I must say I absolutely love it. It is a great car to drive, feels extremely well planted on the road and the performance is fantastic (I came from an M3) ,to a man everyone that has been in my car could not believe it was a diesel it really is that good. The engine response low down in the rev range is absolutely fantastic and there's no flat spot like other diesel cars I've driven, it actually feels happy to rev. There is some very minimal noise on cold start up but that soon disappears and the engine does sound great when accelerating. I'm a massive believer in the modern diesel engine as it delivers the power where 95% of drivers need it combined with better economy. At a steady 80 mph you'll get 36mpg though in heavy urban traffic you'll strugle to get more than 22 or 23 mpg.
I'm so impressed with this engine that I have an order in for the E90 335d and the X5 3.5d when they come out, the E90 in particular promises to be an awesome car.
The only weakness of the car is the low speed ride on the run flats which frankly is pretty awful in my opinion especially on the 18" wheels that are part of the Sport package, however this isn't solely a 535d issue.
I have a 530i on loan for a couple of days and whilst it is a good car it really has enforced my opinion that diesel is the way to go, it almost seems old fashioned to have to rev a car to get the performance out of it. The 5 series is a luxury car and to me it seems more luxurious if the engine feels less stressed.

Spot on review David
The 535d engine is remarkable. It's performance is very powerful, yet very smooth. It definitely suits the luxurious nature of the 5 series.
I'm anxious to see how it works in the E90 as well.
