I had a 2004 530i with the standard radio and it sounded good but was lacking some quality (as expected) but the sound was consistent... the car was declared a total loss about a month ago...
so, less than two weeks ago i got a replacement car, a 2005 530i with sport package and premium sound system. as i understand this package comes with the 13? speaker system (am i correct?). has Logic7 with the surround sound settings and equalizer... etc
here is my question/problem: as im driving about it seems like the tone quality is lost on the radio. happens with all the stations. it sounds like the e.q. turns off and the audio sounds a little dull and not as crisp. then it comes back and sounds crisp and clear again... is this normal? or is something wrong with my radio system? this happens alot as i drive around. i havent tried a cd yet to see if it does it with that too but i will soon...
i tried searching this prior to posting but Its hard to search this forums cause you get too many hits about nothing you're really searchig for...
thanks for any help in advance...

Sounds like a reception issue, but try listening to a CD and pass the results.

Very easy: As the reception is good, the music is stereo, as it is bad, the music is mono

yeah i know that..
i was trying to find someone with a similar problem and a fix.
when i have my radio set to "surround sound" and my "tone goes away" it sounds like the rear speakers shut off and sounds mono. it happens alot and its bothering me. i was thinking of wiring in a powered antenna to solve this issue... anyone done this before?
or maybe a software update will solve this issue? i dont know, the other 530i i had previously to this one didnt have this problem.
