I had it before on pre-LCI, I took it again on LCI... but it sounds different... quality seems to be lower.

Anyone else has experienced this?

What are your settings? Comparable to the older car? Is it switched on?

Same settings as before... It just sounds worst, in general, no matter which the settings are.

Honestly it seems they used lower quality speakers...

It does sound different. I figured its the fact that I am now using MP3s on the CD and the IPOD. Also the interior materials are different on my LCI. There is more leather all over and comfort seats which must change the way sound moves in the car. The L7 was most probably designed and tuned for the pre LCI interior. Just a hunch.

I hope its not true but since L7 is no longer the best sound factory option BMW must be making you feel the need to spend more to get the Individual system!

That very thought crossed my mind too but BMW would be kinda shooting themselves in the foot since IIRC the Dirac sound system isn't offered in US.

Was your interiour also leather in the old car?

The acustic differance between fabric and leather is big.

Not only for obvious reasons but my old E60 had fabric seats,
so I have also experienced it.

But I can also see the fact as bruce miranda pointed out, that since a new and more expensive
Individual Sound system is out, BMW has a new sub-contractor for the audio systems.

Maybe the Logic7 is now somewhat cheaper for the factory and they want to give "value for the money"
to the Individual Audio buyers.

But they can't do that in the US.

Additionally, are we saying that Harman Kardon or whoever supplies L7 now is incapable of "auto tuning" the system for a particular space. That's BASIC in high end systems (if that's not too much of a contradiction).

We did discuss some audio a day ago or so, ABC.

A bit cheaper loudspekers will worsen the sound, a lot.

Audio is mostly about loudspeaker quality, after that comes acustics,
amps and programming last.

Saving one cent on each component on a car are huge savings for the factory,
with loadspekers it could easyli be a couple of Euro / speaker...
