I have a LCI 2008 535i and it refers to the Logic 7 system in the manual, in the iDrive etc. There are no identifiers on the speakers etc. On the Order Options sheet for the car it refers to 663-Radio BMW Professional and 677-Hifi System Professional.

in the uk L7 and the individual system were both available right until the end of production. The L7 speakers on there own are much better than the normal speakers.

Confused here guys !!!
Are you just swapping out only the speakers ? and getting a better sound ? If so what speakers would you recommend / would fit.
Or, are you also swapping out the amp and speakers ?
Thanks

You can't just swap the amp. But you can swap the speakers.

I am pretty sure the Logic 7 system ended in 2007. For pre-lci cars the systems available were standard, hi-fi, and top hi-fi aka Logic 7. The system you have is very similar ( maybe the same? ) to the L7 but it no longer has the L7 name. The LCI cars are available with either the hi-fi, hi-fi professional dsp, or the individual audio system ( Durac as of 08 in the E60 ). Do you have the hi-fi professional dsp ( similar to L7 ) or the individual audio system ( Durac system )? To see how to tell the difference between the hi-fi professional dsp system and the Durac system: Durac post
The Durac system has better speakers, better crossovers in the doors, 90 watts per channel D class amp ( compared to 40x7 and 60x2 for the L7 amp ), and Audissey sound processing. It is much better then the L7 or hi-fi profession dsp system.
For me, I when I drive a car with the L7 system, the rear door speakers ruin the soundstage. I am very tall so maybe I have the seat too far back, but I prefer the L7 system with the rear doors disconnected.

yup, my comment was not specific. The whole L7 system itself compared to the basic sound system can be likened to day and night

You are right, I double checked and the Top Hi-Fi is still also the Logic 7 system. What did change is the individual audio system went to the Durac system as of March 07. Option code SA677 = Top Hi-Fi Logic 7. Option code SA752= enhanced premium sound Durac system.

I thought that the speakers were the same except for the extra speaker on the dashboard and the extra woofer in the trunk.
