I've ordered the DIRAC after all the accolade the system got when present in the X5, but I haven't heard it yet (and my car isn't due until July/August) so maybe someone else with an earlier delivery date can give us a review? Or at least find a demo car that has it installed!

unless your at a stand still the acusotics in a moving car are bad. why pay the extra money for sound you cant hear.

For Dirac, 800+ watts is worthwhile to take a look at, but you'd better off go to dealer and listen to it first.

I partly agree with this. Listening to music in your car parking in the garage is fantastic even with US basic (10-speaker system) sound system. I have L7 and when I listen to music while driving, it's not much different from basic system - 80% closed to L7.

Testdriving a LCI E60 with Individual Audio vs. Logic7 is the only wise decision.
PS. The US basic is our EU Hi-Fi...

The novelty with DIRAC is that the digital processor works like a squirrel on heroin and adjusts the sound according to noise in the car a couple of trillion times per second, eg taking into consideratin how the sound will travel within the compartment when one or more people are in the car. That's the main difference compared to L7, which is a very nice system but "dumb", if you get my idea.
The BMW name is "Individual High End Soundsystem", but as it is based on a technique called DIRAC, from a company called... well, Dirac, it's often called "DIRAC" instead. You'll find more here http://www.dirac.se.
