Very good unless you want to annoy everyone in sight at stoplights. I haven't really listened outside the car, but maybe we could annoy our share if we tried. Does anyone know how loud the bass might seem at stoplights if cranked?

The E60 is build like a medieval fortress. I can blast my 2000 watt subwoofer and not much leaks outside that car aside from rattles. Your average SUV can be heard down the block with just a few hundred watts going to a sub because of the lack of sound-deadening, in contrast.

Won't win any competition, but it's just right. Deep, and fairly accurate compared to my home system (yamaha RX series and Polk Audio RTi towers.

Its alright... my MINI seems to put out more, where you can feel it. Which is more of my preference... I dont mean your Rice Racer BOOM BOOM BOOOM more just enough where I can feel it vibrate. It might be because of where they are... in the door so it kinda rattles more stuff Where as the E60 is so solid built I cant "feel" it as much.

And yes from the outside the E60 is like a fortress cant hear much. I like that. I dont need the neighboring cars to feel my bass.

I find this untrue.

I can hear far more sound of my factory Logic 7 from outside the car than the 1800 Watt system that was in my Lexus RX-300.

The E60 has VERY poor acoustic damping.

I have to agree with that. Compared to my E39 I have noticed on both my E60's how much more general noise can be heard inside the cabin with all the windows up. I only have the HiFi stereo which to be fair does produce a lot of bass but can be heard clearly from outside the car. It would appear that BMW whilst saving weight have skimped on the sound proofing.

Still a fantastic car though.
