I have zero interest in getting the M-Tech. I am just wondering if this is going to be a full repaint or an easy fix at a shop? It's Sunday, otherwise I'd have gone to the shop by now to get an estimate.
Full repaint if you want it to look right.

From the pics you provided, it looks like the paint got scraped pretty deep - through the primer and to the plastic. This means that to make it look right, you'll have to have it repainted. Probably about 300-500 dollar job (but I'm guessing here). Should be in and out of the shop in a couple of days.

Even a full repaint of your bumper is an "easy" job ... that scrape isn't structural and a qualified shop could probably spot it in easily if you wanted to save a few bucks. I'd say it's probably about $200 - $300 to fix it up - a one (same) day job. Be certain whoever does it that they prep the bumper carefully. Otherwise the finish will not be durable.

There's a reason why everyone is pushing for it because it looks good period. I don't care what rims you have on the car, the mtech transforms the car -- trust us we've been here awhile.
If you're going to spend $300-$500 just to repaint it, save up and just get the front mtech bumper until you can afford the rest.

Thanks for the info, appreciate it. Bummer that something as minor as this is still a costly job. I'd consider the M-Tech- I just don't think it would flow with my stock rims. If I had 124s or 166s, I would have added it a while ago.

instead of repainting or buying a mtech, post up a want to buy ad in the classifieds. you could probably pick up a bumper from someone who upgraded to the mtech for cheap.

My Ride: 2006 525XI, Jet black on Dakota beige. Premium and winter packages. I consider myself a purist and intend to keep my car absolutely stock and shiny.
2008 328I Convertible, Sapphire black on beige interior. Premium package, NAV, iPod adapter.
Retired: 2002 325I, Titanium silver on black leather. Premium package. Absolutely stock and proud of it.
Bummer that it happened. I agree with the majority that this will require a full bumper repaint. I recommend wrapping the garage pillar in heavy foam (sponge-like material). G/L

I cooned my bumper on the metal rail on my garage door trying to be a smart ass and pull into the garage rear-first. I had the clear bra on as well, so I'm not sure if I just scraped the plastic and bubbled the paint, or did that plus swapping some paint with the now-naked bumper. It's minor for me too, and I don't think it's quite a "gash" as much as it is some paint-swaping, but it still bothers me from time to time. I'll see if I can convince my dad to upgrade the front bumper (the car was hit lightly from behind a few months ago, so we got a new bumper for it too) to an m-tech. I think just the m-front and no sides or rear would look good.
