I haven't had time to check the specs but doesn't the 545 have a limited slip?
I took this pic the other day. Note that the strip (around 50 feet or so) is over a month old. Notice only the right tire lit up. I don't do this typically but I happened to leave my house a little quickly one day (and yes, DSC was OFF).

Don't believe there is a LSD because if there was, it would surely be advertised.

BTW, you should refreshen that strip of yours with some new rubber.

Left the house "a little fast," Realtyman, and left a 50 FOOT black mark?

I like it. Reminds me of the muscle car era.

I would be surprised if it did not have it. Can someone look it up in TIS?

I'm pretty sure Traction Control (DTC) one-up's an LSD. I.e. is does have an LSD plus the ability to dynamically apply brakes to individual wheels that are spinning. It would take a tech wizard to know the facts for sure, though.

Sam is right I believe, the E60 does electronically what the LSD does, using the Traction Control, which I believe is disabled when you disable the DSC, hence the single rubber stripe on the road.

If history repeats itself, only the "M" cars will come with LSD. LS actually transfers the power from one wheel if it detects slippage to the other wheel, where our DTC actually applies brakes and slows us down

Yeah, we would be much quicker off the line with a LSD.

I'm not the best driver, but when I want to have a bit of fun and turn of DSC, I have difficulty getting a good launch without spinning the tires.

DTC has goteen me safely where I need to go in the snow both in my E60 and in my E39. Rear-wheel drive handling/performance in the dry and the ability to move where desired in the snow is a very strong combination, imo.
