Lights in the rear bumper

My Ride: E60 530d Sport - Carbon Black, Black Dakota Leather, Media Pack (satnav, bluetooth, CD changer), heated font seats, through load
I've noticed that the US spec car has red lights or reflectors in the rear bumper. The UK spec car doesn't.
What's that all about? Anyone know.

Waiting for trunkopener button from Hobi :)
It's the other way around.. US cars have the black inserts and Euro spec cars have the red reflectors.. It's a DOT regulation thing in the US!

Interesting. I was looking at photos of the new sport model. Which doesn't have the reflectors.
After reading the replies, I checked the BMW UK website, and yes the standard model does have them.
