Lighted Rear Reflectors

Even on German spec E60's they are not illuminated. It's only the flashlight.

That's why they are called REFLECTORS...

And I caught this one reflecting in normal bright Texas sunlight.

The rear reflector looks like lights are on and it makes driver behind thought that you're braking and it might cause driver behind you hitting the brake hard. That's why those rear reflectors has not been installed on E60 due to USDOT (Department of Trash ) regulations. Correct me if I am wrong.

So, it is perfectly OK to fool drivers the brakes came on in Europe but not in the US?

That's a reasonable explanation, but many cars if the U.S. come equipped with rear reflectors.

Yes, but other reflectors don't reflect directly to the driver behind. Anyhew, we don't have to worry about this. BMW will take care of this or we'll have to spend about 30USD for these lovely reflector. I have mine from bekkers and it looks way better than those black inserts on Alpine White. It really matches. I'll send you guys some pics tomorrow
