Default

Hello everyone on december I took my car for service . and after i got back i noticed that on my front head lights the xenon was fine but the orange small lights on top of them are not turning on anymore, I just called and the service advisor told me it is not under warranty. also I have an extended warranty , but he said I dont need the extended service plan because the cpo factory warrranty covers everything till the 100k my I had 50 k now on my car.
does anyone know if the extended warranty covers electric parts ??

This is a well-documented problem with a software update, and it's the dealer's fault for giving you the dodgy update. Go back and ask for the up-to-date version that has the fix for the eyebrow lights not coming on - present them with the fact that this is a known fault, documented in BMW tech bulletin 6295848-03, and hopefully they will sort you out.

Here's a link to the bulletin, which you can print out and take to the dealer.

Hey Kier: Unrelated, but what is the Exclusive Leather you mention in your signature? I noted that another UK poster mentioned High Gloss Leather recently. Are they the same? Just curious as my US-spec Dakota leather is a rather matte finish. Cheers.

I believe that 'exclusive' is an appreviation used by some dealers to describe BMW's Exclusive Nappa leather, which is a softer, finer leather than the standard Dakota.

It's selectable on the BMW.co.uk car configurator as an upgrade, and requires the addition of comfort seats and ISOFIX.

Probably the same as what's called Nasca leather here, it's a Priority One option on the 5-series, and is required if you order ventilated front seats, also Priority One option.

Cal
I googled 'bmw exclusive leather' and got lots of hits for exclusive/nasca, but here in the UK we have options for both nasca and nappa, so I'm not sure that they are the same thing.

In terms of appearence, the nappa leather has a much less noticable grain to it and looks a lot smoother than the dakota standard. Personally, I prefer the look of the dakota and the feel of the nappa, though both are comparatively nasty next to the merino leather now offered in the BMW Individual range, and on the M cars...
