Its not a general feeling its common knowledge. Road tax doesnt go towards maintaining the roads it goes into the central pot of money with other taxes and alot less is given back out for the road system.

Wait -let me get this straight. You have to pay up to $1000/year to drive the car?
I pay $37/year for registration/license renewal. We pay a sales tax the first time we register a car, and local, state, and federal taxes, but nothing on the car. Tell me you guys don't have to pay those.
