Does anyone here have letherette in their e60? What is the quality like? Is it durable?

I have it but I should have got the leather. I read that you can't tell the difference in the look.

Why did you feel that you should have gotten leather?

correct, it's not real leather. I checked it out at the dealer and you can't tell the difference between leather and leathette (besides the smell, but this will ultimatly go away with real leather). The good thing of leatherette is it's more durable than leather, it won't need any to keep it smooth and shows less signs of wear. Also, you can clean leathrette much better (you can even use chemicals you won't be able to use on leather). If you have little children, i thinks leathrette is almost a must!

leatherette: is sides are leather but the sitting area is tissue, only one problem when you get it weared the tissue will get FUZZY so that is why

why they have it ? it is cheaper in the price list as leather and not only tissue

bUT go for leather at least if you buy e60, those collections are beautifull
of course if you can afford it, but for a 60K+ car... I did it.

Yes you can have aftermarket leathers, or companies like ASC, ALpina, Hamann..etc they all do it, for sure if you take it to a good shop they can make it nice,- only pay attentionon the airbags also depends how many you have , like also for the rear.
Even you can get a more unique than oem, but I wanted comfort seats that comez w leather, so no choices there. BUT I AM happy w it.

My Ride: E60 "Stripper" Now C6 "Stripper"
Talking

I had leatherette before and most people who sat in my car didn't know it wasn't leather, see for yourself.

But when someone tells you it's not leather and you feel it back to back with Dakota leather you can tell right away.

In the US you can get the 525i/530i without leather (leatherette) if you don't choose the premium package. It's all a matter of personal taste. It will hurt resale value but then again you won't pay for something you don't want.
