You do realise, this is the bit where people on the forum start saying "what about options x y and z", and you end up doubling the price of your car
Exactly what happend to me.... Otherwise I would be driving around with HUD and I would really regret it. After using it a couple of times, especially with SatNav, it's a MUST. Also the 172M's would be on the car.

Ah, so much money I could have saved... I mean, spent it on my wife!

Of course.

Ahmed, I believe I had my VIN within about a week after placing my order. Before that you have the production number. Then you can track it via the BMW owner's circle...which is not always current....best source is your dealer.

Ok, where are you guys seeing ventilated seats? I've built so many different cars on bmwusa.com at this point and I've never seen the ventliated option. In fact, I remember reading several reviews of the 2008 E60, especially comparisons against the Lexus crowd, that put down the E60 for not offering this option. It's also not listed as an option in the official 2008 BMW 5 Series Sedan brochure. I thought this might be a European-only thing, but several of you who have ordered it are showing that you live in the States. So what gives?

It's a priority one option. You can custom order it, but the dealer cannot order it to stock. The anthracite (black) headliner is another such option.

Interesting. I guess I need to go visit my dealer.

Funny, my 2001 530 color is Anthracite, which is a nice gray. They can't just pick a name and stick with it, I guess. Marketing, sheesh.

Exactly - it's shown on their options list - but nowhere else. I checked into the "ventilated seats" option, but didn't like the look of nantha (sp?) leather that you have to get with this option and the fact that is is only "ventilated" and not actually cooled...made me decide it was not a worthwile option.
