OK, I got my estimate for the rain damage and the total was $11,900.00. Just goes to show you what the damage could be if your windows open and you don't know it and it raining like hell out side! Tomorrow I will start to order all the replacement parts from work and having them installed.
Does anyone have any good ideas to soften leather? I've tried several products and searched under google but everything seems to be temporary and not long lasting. Now that the leather has become wet it feels even harder than before so I want to see what products will help in the current condition.
The ultimate plan is to replace all the leather in the car but I am afraid that I will have a color matching issue. A little off in color is ok, but not off enough that someone asked what happened to the seat....! When you order the replacement leather you are ordering individual pieces and not a colored matched kit. So this means they came from different die and production lots.

Hey tony,
If you get a chance, document your work. Others here (like me) will be very interested in leather restoration in the E60s as years fly by. Good luck with everything buddy.

Yes, this was kinda my intent to see what the products will do to the leather and how long it might last. Like I said, the water seemed to stiffen the leather quite a bit. Last night I found something called Leather Honey. After reading the article I purchased a small bottle and will give it a try. Meanwhile, I'll locate the letherique as well.

+1 on the Leatherique rejuvenator oil. Follow the instructions, apply generously and let it cook in the sun with windows closed. One of the hurdles to overcome in BMW's is that the "dye" (more a paint than a dye) prevents the conditioners from really getting into the leather. Mostly just sits on top.

IIRC, detailer's domian also gives 10% if you enter the coupon code "bmw"

Ha ha ha ha...... thats what I was thinking too! For an example, i have confort seats. The passenger seat bottom is the most expensive. It has the seat occupancy and heater so the list price is 1900.00 my cost at the dealer was 1750.00 and my cost from work is 1350.00. The other pieces for the seats are around 800.00 each (3) ~ 2400.00 and 1900.00 looking like $4,300.00 just a couple hundred each for the thigh support. Then throw in the door panel this was 1100.00 without the arm rest and wood trim. The estimate was clearly low balled but its ok, because they just have to pay later to get it back the way it's supposed to be...
