Love the leather-top iDrive knob!! Thought it didn't look nice at first on the brochures, but on my 2006 e60, it looks fantastic in the car. It matches very well with the black leather of the shift boot, and the black anthracite maple wood (I have auburn leather).

Would it look good in cars without black leather or black wood??

I prefer the original one. The new one looks like the one on E90.

Hi Folks

Never having to use the "original" iDrive knob, but now having the iDrive knob with *black* leather top I actually like how it feels. Force Feedback? Yes. It certainly has this. I like the feedback I get from it. The nice thing about the leather top is that it *appears* to have a layer of foam underneath. When you depress the iDrive knob it's a bit "cushy".

It won't satisfy everyone (Does anything on the car satisfy everyone???? ), but I'm certainly OK with it.

Yes, that is the new standard and has feedback control too (not sure if this is only for NAV cars)
My interior is Beige and the cover on the controller is Charcoal

I like the old iDrive knob better. More sporty feel.

I like the original one more too. It has the modern and futuristic look. As to the force feedback, the original one has it too.
