I noticed in the 2006 brochure on the BMWUSA website that the beige interior car depicted had a grey leather knob. Too bad BMW does not match it to the interior leather in the car or do they? Interesting that you comment that the knob is black in the magazine. Did the car have black leather?
Any 2006 leather knobs out there care to comment? Does it match your interior?

the controller was not on the actual car, was just a picture of it in huge scale explaning how efficent the iDrive is at replacing lots of buttons. did not realise that it is now the standard controller though!!

You should have it on your car -- it's when the controller gives a tactile feedback with "clicks" and/or stops turning at the end of a row of selections...
