DONT DO IT!!!!

What the stealerships and BMW NA dont tell you is these cars are not eligible for re-certicication thus the resale value goes down. I bought one (06 530i) and loved the car so much that when it was time to consider re-certification for 100K mile warranty, BMW NA denied it. It turns out BMA NA gives stealerships awesome deals to unload these cars they have used for testing etc. They told me the car was used on some track in NC and goes through such extensive stress they do not re-certify. Funny thing is I have less problems with that 530 than I do with my new 08 535i.

After fighting with BMA NA and the stealership, BMW NA would not budge so the dealer ate the cost and gave me a 3rd party extended warranty for free...which has same deductable and actually covers more items.
since i am leasing not buying, wouldnt it be bmws problem if it has issues? i am dumping in in 36 months anyway.

I just want to know if its a good price.

thanks for your input thus far.

Firstly, the dealers are desperate to look for good customers with a good credit history and a good job.
But I know nothing about the US pricing.

Secondly, a dealers car has got a lot of punishment by a lot of a**holes.

Thirdly, a 36 month lease is a long time. See to it that the car is what you want for three years.
So stay cool!!!
But a separate nav can be bought for some 200 - 300 bucks, but Logic 7 can't be replaced.

But then after three years a F10 has been only one year on the market.
This is good timing, because usually it's not wise to buy (or lease) the first MY of any BMW.

All in all, look for a bargain, there's a lot of BMW dealers not far from you.
Even if you lease the car from another dealer all has to serve it.

Hi Craig,

I've never leased a car before, but from what I have read about BMW plans for leases, it's probably higher than what it would have been a year ago.

Here's a link that will explain this better: http://www.bimmerfile.com/2008/08/28/septe...e-rates-to-jump

Good luck with your decision, but there are plenty of good, quality CPOs out there that scream your name. Many BMWs still feel as tight and supple at 30~40K miles as they were when they were brand new. The bonus is that somebody else took the financial hit of depreciation and now you get to OWN a BMW for about the same money that you were going to pay for a lease that needs to be returned later. Make sure you have enough original warranty left over to take care of any pesky problems.

Yeah, check out the factory to retailer incentives on the 2008 models. That's one of the main reasons why I bought mine a few weeks back.

I've never leased a car, but I know that you never want to "buy" a car just because of payments. If I were to lease a car, it would be brand new and not a demo. With 9000 miles, the car is used. With a 3 year lease and 15k/yr mile allotment, you'll be out of warranty at the end of the lease.

If you're ok with the payment and the 3 year term in which you'll walk away from it, go for it.

Make sure you get a warranty for all the lease time!
8 + 3x15 = makes the car only under 60 k miles driven, that's no problem.

I would say, this is not your deal: learn more about the whole matter!

A green dude like you should not get into this!

3 years with an inferior stereo that i can't modify would make it unbearable. I say sell your maxima private part for 3-4k depending on model and options and get the car you want. Took me six months to make a decision and find a car that met the majority of my criteria. In the end i ended up passing up a $400 a month employee lease (was going to get $4500 trade in for an 02 jetta that i sold private party for $7500 in a week) and bought a used one for 0 down with $400 payments and more options then i would have gotten with the lease. I figure I'll drive it for a few years and get a CPO 535i down the line since i don't like the new 5.

Well what is done is done. I leased a black/black 535i sport/premium. no navi or logic7 for 599 a month. It has the extended warranty, and i got 12K a year.

I got 2500 for my maxima there. i didnt want to sell it privately because the trunk is tied down because it wont shut and it needs brakes bad. so i got rid of a headache and got a bmw for 599 a month. i love it and i dont know why i am sitting here typing and not driving!

Well just so you can really make an informed decision. Not only does it lack Logic7 and Nav, and it also lacks Cold Weather Pkg, rear heated seats, HUD, Active Cruise Control, Active Steering, Sport Auto Trans, Sat Radio, HD Radio.

So, if the dealer is telling you it has everything except L7 and NAV, he's sorely misleading you.
