I don't understand point 2 "turn lights come out" - come out of what??

I think he means comes on... Like Rudy said on LCI cars if you make a slow turn an extra light... not sure which one... turns on to help illuminate that corner for you. I want to see it in action.

3. Indepdent Heating : You can switch on the heating of the car remotely via a remote control or a ThermoCall ?? picture of a mobile phone is displayed - so I'm guessing a call type function.

I'm pretty sure Iceman has the remote heating feature...
So how does this ThermoCall feature work then?

Point 1 would be illegal in the UK.
Not quite true - you are allowed to have extra "driving lights" that only come on with main beam only. I had driving lights on both Impreza and Evo 6 when I owned them. Pair of 100W extra main beam lights are very handy on country roads. Activated via a relay on a main beam wire. You have to be very quick to switch off the main beam when somebody comes along the other way though. They're not actually fog lights - they just go in the same space, but the beam pattern is basically a main beam light (ie throw light out everywhere).

If I could get these instead of front fogs, I'd take them in an instant - front fogs are pretty pointless really.

2. Turning/Fog lights : These combine the turning and fog lights in a single system and the turn lights come out automatically when the driver turns off or takes a sharp corner.
Is it the same ugly thing that MB has? One of the foges comes on when you are turning. To me it only looks like one of them is broken.

You also have to watch for low flying aircraft confusing you with a runway - happened recently outside of Heathrow...

I can get the thermocall system from Webasto installed on almost any car via the Bosch autoshop in Germany but when i asked about installing it into the E60 they could not do that. Something to do with BMW not authorizing the information needed to do the fit. BMW Germany also could not do an OEM install since my car is a USA spec model and these systems are meant for Euro models and cannot be installed on my car. This info is two years old so maybe there has been a change since May 2005 but...

Hi Bruce-

I've only heard about those options in the past. Can you post a scan of the relevant pages of the catalogue (or the whole catalogue!) by any chance? I'd also like to get the part numbers for all those options you listed. Thanks!

While on holiday i picked up a accessory brochure that seems to be printed in Germany. Its probably the most comprehensive book I've seen till date, the UK brochure is probably half the size.

Some of the new things I read about were.

1. Additional Xenon main beam headlights: These apparently are for cars without the Xenon headlights and they replace the front fogs with Xenons which light up with the headlights.

2. Turning/Fog lights : These combine the turning and fog lights in a single system and the turn lights come out automatically when the driver turns off or takes a sharp corner.

3. Indepdent Heating : You can switch on the heating of the car remotely via a remote control or a ThermoCall ?? picture of a mobile phone is displayed - so I'm guessing a call type function.

4. Storgage and Drinks holder module : These replace the skibag module with some more functional comparents or drinks holder.

5. Textile bag: A bag that fits to the pocket behind the seats.

You learn something new each day. Has anyone else got these.
