I think he means comes on... Like Rudy said on LCI cars if you make a slow turn an extra light... not sure which one... turns on to help illuminate that corner for you. I want to see it in action.

at 1600 Euros (!)

Point 1 would be illegal in the UK.
If I could get these instead of front fogs, I'd take them in an instant - front fogs are pretty pointless really.

Pair of 100W extra main beam lights are very handy on country roads. Activated via a relay on a main beam wire. You have to be very quick to switch off the main beam when somebody comes along the other way though.

I can get the thermocall system from Webasto installed on almost any car via the Bosch autoshop in Germany but when i asked about installing it into the E60 they could not do that. Something to do with BMW not authorizing the information needed to do the fit. BMW Germany also could not do an OEM install since my car is a USA spec model and these systems are meant for Euro models and cannot be installed on my car. This info is two years old so maybe there has been a change since May 2005 but...
