Well if the dealer concludes that it is the valve cover gaskets, I may have my own mechanic do them because he wants to work out some adjustment on labor.

UPDATE: Picked up my car today from the indy shop. After spending another 4 hours (free of course) they were able to disassemble the front of the engine again. He has determined to the best of his knowledge that after running about 4-5 minutes, the leak seeps out of a bolt in the lower timing cover. He says this may be due to Flat rate jobs to replace O-rings at BMW and the BMW mechs would not do the job properly when removing the timing cover. Im not too advance with all this technical mumbo jumbo.. but what do you guys think? I'm going to East Bay BMW tomorrow. Thanks.
are you saying its "planned failure"?
what are you going to have the bmw dealer do?
i assume you're out of warranty. just spray the bolt and area with brake cleaner, and use some rtv silicone and be done with it. dont make it a big deal.

Hmm yea I thought about that, but the mech said it took him almost 4 hours just to get to the bolt. I don't even have a floor Jack....lol
seems kind of dumb. back out the bolt, brake cleaner, and put some rtv on it and reinsert.

Also another question. When I got to BMW. Should I let them know that someone else looked at the car? Should i mention that it is leaking from the timing cover? Or should I just say it has a leak somewhere?
