I have a 2008 535D and there is a leak coming from the steering rack. Everything else is fine with the rack, still tight and driver straight.
I have 2 questions,
I believe I have the Hydro version, is there a way to chexk this via vin?
And is there a seal rebuild kit?
I have seen videos about replacing the top seal where the steering column connects (this is where mine is leaking) but cant seem to find a seal kit for it.
Attachd picture is not of my rack but shows where the leak is coming from
Mine is leaking from the same place. Have yet to do it yet because it's a small seepage and I only have to top off fluid every thousand or two miles. I believe I read it's possible to pull the servotronic unit off without dropping the subframe+rack, but be prepared to have to drop the subframe if it doesn't work out. You don't need any special tools to install the seals and you can get away with just removing/installing the main one (input shaft seal) with the right sized socket.
