I have discovered a small oil leak from the Intercooler (Charge air) pipe at its lowest point. ie where it exits the intercooler.

Various diesel forums advise this is quite common in TD engines - a result of crankcase oil mist/vapour being re-circulated back into the system.

My vehicle is only 1 year old with 9K miles , mainly motorway mileage.
I havn't identified the amount of oil involved yet - although car not using oil noticeably.

I would prefer not to see anything like this , but a bit of research suggests the above not unusual...?

Any other Diesel e60 owners out there with similar findings......?

oil in intercooler plumbing is never a good thing as it drastically reduces the intercooler efficiency. I would guess that it is oil blow-by recirculating back into the intake tract, gumming up your intercooler and piping, and eventually your whole top end. Install an oil catch can

I agree with the above, any oil in the intercooler system is not good news.

There could/should be a little residue in the pipe work but only a fine coating on the inside of the tube, certainly not enough to drip/leak.

If the car is only a year old, get it back to the dealer to check out.
