Hmmm BiTurbo V8 (408 HP)...? *Drools*...

With a remap, we can expect somewhere around 450-480+ HP

Why not? Didn't the '08 X5 hit the streets before the '08 5? There's no written law stating that the models have to be released in a specific sequence. They come when they come.

At any rate, it's not nearly as drastic a change as we were expecting. And that's a good thing, IMO. I wasn't feeling those other drawings/guesstimates. Although, I do like that top photoshopped picture. It's very classy looking, but obviously has too much 3-series chopped in. The headlights look nothing like the lights on the other cars.
I also seriously doubt it will appear as an '09 model. The first pic is an obvious photochop. I like it. The remaining pics are of a test mule with the current body mounted on a new chassis. The fender flares merely indicate the new car will have a wider track.

Yes there is a pre planned sequence for most production cars and with BMW if the model runs well it usually stays 7 - 8 years , its safer and more cost effective , I do not think we can get our hands on the new 5 until Late 2011 or even March 2011 as a 2012 model, won't be surprised as its been the best selling 5 ever.

Oh, now a remap is respectable!

Isn?t late 2011 AFTER March 2011?

The E60 is unlikely to beat the sales record of the E39 at its current rate by the way.

I doubt that there will be an "LCI2" for the E60 -- that photo and article is more likely the F10...
Naaaa, it looks simply an E60 .

BMW has just decided what design to approve for the new 5er and Autocar says it will hit the road in 09. Well, well.

Probably just like the e60, it will hit Europe in Sept 2008 as an '09 model and hit here in March 2009 six months later. The TT V8 will be awesome. You really have to appreciate these exciting engines, its like the 1960/70's hp wars all over again.
